Make a Meaningful Impact in State College!
The Borough of State College offers full-time, part-time, and volunteer opportunities throughout a variety of departments. Each role supports essential services and programs that help the community thrive.
Whether you’re interested in a paid position or looking to volunteer by serving on an authority, board, or commission (ABCs), there are many meaningful ways to get involved.
Calder Way Improvement Project Phase 2 & 2A Community Update
This past week the Phase 2 contractor, TerraWorks continued installing water lines from South Fraser Street to South Burrowes Street. The contractor also installed the first stormwater structure closest to South Fraser Street. Calder Way from South Fraser Street to Burrowes Street remains closed to vehicular traffic.
In Phase 2A, Glenn O. Hawbaker continued excavating for current utilities and in one area on site, restrained and removed a section of waterline. Next week, the contractor will be mobilizing equipment and materials on site.
Work on the sanitary sewer lines will begin on Monday, March 23. With the start of the sanitary sewer line replacement, the fence will be extended an extra 30 feet in the direction of High Street.
The Borough wants to ensure that pedestrians will have access to businesses and apartments, with the sidewalks being closed. This includes The Legacy, oLiv Hetzel, Playa Bowls, and Calder Commons. The contractor will be placing additional sidewalk detour signs for pedestrians during this time.
The community can receive weekly updates by visiting the Calder Way Improvement Project page. Questions about the project may be directed to Tristan Klinefelter, the Borough’s Calder Way Public Relations Representative, by emailing tklinefelter@statecollegepa.us or calling (814) 680-4468.
The Thursday, March 19, Planning Commission meeting has been canceled. The next Planning Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at noon.
