Bicycling in State College
The Borough of State College works with the Bicycle Ambassadors and local biking businesses and advocacy groups to promote biking in the Borough. From annual community bike rides to a bike-in movie night every summer, there is something for everyone, regardless of bike skill or experience, to enjoy.
Awards & Recognition
The Borough of State College is a Bicycle Friendly Business. This recognition program, initiated by the League of American Bicyclists, recognizes employers' efforts to encourage a more bicycle-friendly atmosphere for its employees and customers. In 2016, the Borough applied for and received silver recognition for the Bicycle Friendly Business program. The program honors innovative bicycle-friendly efforts, provides technical assistance, and helps businesses foster a healthier workplace and become more socially and environmentally responsible.
The League also provided a feedback report (PDF) that outlines strategies for improving the engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement and evaluation and planning for bicycling. The Borough continues to look for ways to encourage bicycling and improve safety through programs such as the Bicycle Ambassadors, incorporating on-street bike lanes during construction projects, and providing adequate bicycle parking.
