Upcoming Travel Restrictions on East College Avenue Between Sowers Street and Hetzel Street

Starting on Wednesday, November 5, Landmark Urban Construction PA, LLC will be occupying East College Avenue between Sowers Street and Hetzel Street for a long-term lane closure of the parking lane across from 442 and 444 East College Avenue for The Mark State College. The parking lane closure is set to be in place until August 2028. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling near work areas. Join the Borough of State College and the Center for Alternatives in Community Justice (CACJ) for the next conversation in the Community Conversations Series. This session explores incarceration and reentry through a local lens, starting with a panel of local experts followed by an interactive Reentry Simulation led by Penn State’s Restorative Justice Initiative.

Trick or Treat is this Friday, October 31, in the Borough of State College! 👻 ⁠Planning to take part? The State College Police Department reminds everyone to keep safety in mind while Trick or Treating. Whether you’re heading out for Trick or Treat or driving through neighborhoods, a few simple precautions can help ensure a fun and safe evening for all:⁠

  • ⁠Stay with an adult or in a group — never go alone⁠
  • Walk, don’t run, and always look both ways before crossing the street⁠
  • Use sidewalks and crosswalks, and carry a flashlight or glow stick to stay visible⁠
  • Choose costumes that fit well, don’t block your vision, and include reflective materials⁠ 
  • Never enter a stranger’s home or car, even if invited⁠
  • Check all treats before eating and throw away anything unwrapped or suspicious⁠
  • Drivers — slow down, stay alert, and put away distractions⁠

A sensory-friendly time will be available from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., with dimmed lights, low noise, and minimal scents.
