PAPER QUILT ON DISPLAY
A colorful paper quilt, created by children at the WPSU booth during Children's Day at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, is now on display in the lobby of the State College Borough Municipal Building through the end of August.
Summer Youth Employment Program
As we reported in last month's E-Newsletter, funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was directed to our region to develop summer youth employment programs. The State College Borough Public Works Department applied for and was selected to be a host employer this summer. The participants worked on the demolition and re-building of public access/neighborhood pathways. The pathways are located between Royal Circle and Sandpiper Drive as well as between Inverary Place and Sandpiper Drive. Much thanks and appreciation to the youth team members (Chelsea Doney, Isaac Solak, Joshua Jordan, Curtis Flather and Chris Eyler) and Borough staff members, Kade Cramer and Dave Sprowls along with Chris Sinkus, Mark Watson, Bob Sprout, Nate Arney, John Keeler, and Brad Kling for their help in completing the project.

Downtown Improvement District Events
In celebration of the 2009 New York Penn League All Star Game, the Downtown State College Improvement District joined together with the State College Spikes to host an All Star Fan Fest on Sunday, August 16. With a speed pitch, moon bounce, sports demos and performance groups, the event was full of fun activities for kids of all ages. Plus, athletes from a variety of sports and decades signed autographs and talk with fans.
The cast of Beatlemania also returned to Central Parklet with a tribute to the Beatles.

No need to purchase individual copies for each member, the kits can be checked out for 6 weeks. Give it a try - adult book discussion kits are located on the second floor of the library behind the new Non-Fiction. You can't miss them. They're in the red bags.
