MEDIA RELEASE
February 28, 2019
State Patty’s Day 2019

The following are preliminary statistics on police service calls handled by the State College Police Department and Penn State University Police Department from noon on Friday, February 22nd through noon on Sunday, February 24th. Total crimes reported, arrests, and calls for service saw a considerable decrease from 2018 and even more significant decrease from the height of the State Patty’s Day event in 2011.  In most categories, the statistics are the lowest over the past nine (9) years.

The State College Police Department appreciates the outstanding cooperation received by both town and gown partners in helping reduce the impact this event has on our community.   The State College Police Department would also like to thank our law enforcement partners to include the Penn State Police, Ferguson Township, Patton Township, The Pennsylvania State Police and Liquor Control Enforcement for their assistance. Read about the efforts Penn State and State College Borough undertook this year to reduce the impact of State Patty’s Day in a release that was sent out last week: https://news.psu.edu/story/560415/2019/02/21/campus-life/penn-state-state-college-take-steps-reduce-impact-state-patty%E2%80%99s
