PENN STATE vs APPALACHIAN STATE FOOTBALL TRAFFIC

The State College Police Department is reminding those attending the PSU v Appalachian State Football game on Saturday, September 1, 2018 of the numerous construction projects that will impact those travelling to and from this game.  Those seeking game day parking should plan to arrive to the game from the east, using The Mount Nittany Expressway (SR 0322) and I99 to access yellow parking lots from the Park Avenue exit of I99.  We encourage motorists to plan their route and parking in advance and recommend using downtown municipal parking garages and available shuttle service when possible to reduce traffic on the roadways.

In addition to this, it is recommended that those attending the game read the back of their parking permits and follow those directions to travel to their parking for the game.  Accessing stadium parking from State Route 322 and Interstate 99 is the recommended direction of travel.  Backups are expected on North Atherton Street.  Avoid this roadway if possible and plan a route around the various construction projects.

PennDOT encourages drivers to “Know before they go” and to check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA is free, available 24 hours a day, and provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 860 traffic cameras. PennDOT reminds drivers that 511PA offers them up-to-date information on most roads across the state, allowing them to plan before heading out. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.

  • For Labor Day weekend, North Atherton Street will have two lanes open for traffic in each direction from North Hills Place to Cherry Lane. The center lane remains closed and no left turns will be allowed.

Football parking information is available on www.gopsusports.com .  Information about parking in downtown is available at the State College Borough website:  www.statecollegepa.us .
