2018 Living in One Neighborhood Press Release

State College, PA – The 2018 Living in One Neighborhood (LION) Bash will be held, Wednesday, August 29,?2018?from 5 to 8 p.m. on the 100 and 200 blocks of South Allen Street. 
LION Bash is a mix between a community resource fair and a block party. The goal of this event is to provide an educational opportunity for new Penn State University (PSU) students and current Borough residents to learn more about the services and ordinances in place, which helps to maintain the quality of life and safety in our community, while also learning about the great community organizations operating in the area. This event is a partnership between Penn State University, the Downtown State College Improvement District, Neighborhood Associations and the Borough of State College. This event is best described as a community resource fair plus block party. 
The 2018 LION Bash will the biggest to date with over 100 engagement stations already signed up. Attendees will stop by these stations to join in on fun activities while also learning more about the amazing organizations and resources in State College. The event will also feature music by Velveeta playing at the stage in the 100 block of South Allen Street. Other entertainment will include a magician, Tapestry dance group, games in the street, caricature artist and B94.5 broadcasting live in front of the State College Municipal Building. Stop by to listen to hit music and win various prizes, like tickets to a show hosted by the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State taking place during the 2018-2019 season. Check out their schedule of events at  
There will also be food at the event from establishments like Canyon Pizza, Bradley's Cheesesteaks, Rita's Italian Ice and Mad Mex, but attendees are also encouraged to visit one of the many great eateries in Downtown State College.  
New to this year’s LION events is the LION Dash. On Saturday, August 25, at 9 a.m., the first-ever LION Dash will take place as part of Penn State’s Fall Semester Welcome Week. The primary goal of the race is to introduce the State College community to new students early in their Penn State careers. Got to the LION Dash’s Facebook page ( to learn more about the event.
The Borough has been hosting LION events annually for over ten years. Previously, the Borough hosted LION Walk, an effort to get students, community members and local leaders out in the community to distribute resources packets to residence’s front doors, but in the past three years this event has transformed into the LION Bash.
