Want to save a life? The State College Police are looking for your help. If your business, office building or place of worship has an automated external defibrillator (AED) on site for public use, we’d like to know! We are currently working to update our databases with locations of AEDs in the State College area so they can be located quickly in times of need.
Immediate CPR and early defibrillation, with an AED, can more than double a victim’s chance of survival. In fact, early defibrillation, along with CPR, is the only way to restore the victim’s heart rhythm to normal in a lot of cases of cardiac arrest. For every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, however, the chances of survival decrease by 7–10%.
We are asking for the community’s help, if your business or community center has an AED, please contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150 or fill out a simple form on our website. We can also be reached by email (please include Building Name, Address, AED location (include floor #) and Apt or Suite #).
