State College Police, Centre LifeLink EMS, and Alpha Fire were dispatched to a vehicle crash at the intersection of West Beaver Ave. and South Atherton St. which occurred at 8:19pm on 12/5/16.  Upon arrival, it was learned that a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Penn State Student was southbound on Atherton approaching Beaver Ave when it collided with another vehicle.  That vehicle was then pushed into a third vehicle stopped on Atherton waiting to turn left onto Beaver Ave.  The student’s vehicle struck a curb after the initial impact and rolled over once, coming to rest on its wheels, facing east on Beaver Ave.  The student was extricated from the vehicle by Alpha Fire.  Centre LifeLink EMS transported him to Community Field where he was flown by Life Flight to UPMC-Altoona.  There were minor injuries in the other two vehicles but no parties were transported from the scene by Centre LifeLink EMS.  All three cars were towed from the scene.  The investigation is ongoing but, at this time, it appears speed and an unsafe lane change was the cause.

We are urging anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email or submit an anonymous tip through our website.
