On August 22, 2016 at 11:18 AM, The State College Police responded to the intersection of South Atherton Street and the Westerly Parkway for a crash involving a car and a bicycle. A black Kia Sorento was travelling southbound on South Atherton Street. The Kia turned left onto Westerly Parkway. The bicyclist was travelling northbound on South Atherton Street and collided with the Kia. The bicyclist was operated by a 22-year-old Penn State Student who was transported to Altoona UPMC by Centre LifeLink. The bicyclist’s injuries appeared serious but not life-threatening. The 34-year-old operator of the Kia was uninjured. The crash is still under investigation.
