On Thursday, June 9, 2016 at approximately 10:11 p.m. the State College Police Department was dispatched to a cardiac arrest call at 915 Southgate Dr. #9. Upon police arrival, they found a female victim unconscious and not breathing. Emergency medical treatment was immediately provided to include CPR and the administration of naloxone; however these efforts were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Deputy Coroner Todd Shook at 10:44 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Shana Greger, age 25 of State College, PA. Based on the evidence discovered at the scene, it is believed the victim died of a heroin overdose. An autopsy and toxicology has been scheduled to make a final determination of the cause of death.
The State College Police Department is continuing to investigate this death in attempts to determine who provided the heroin to the victim that resulted in her death. Heroin use has become an epidemic across much of the country and heroin use is occurring here in the State College/Centre County area. All investigative efforts will be made to determine who provided this deadly heroin and, depending on the evidence, bring charges of Drug Delivery Resulting in Death against the person(s) responsible for providing the heroin.
The State College Police Department is offering up to a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who provided the heroin that resulted in her death.
