Attending a meeting is a great way to become more knowledgeable about local government. It is also a way to have your voice heard on important local topics.
Speak During the Public Hour
Borough Council greatly appreciates public comment from residents, business owners and other interested parties. At each Council meeting, the public can come forward to comment during the Public Hour on issues not addressed in the agenda. In August of 2016, Council approved additional procedures and protocols regarding the Public Hour.
In addition to the Public Hour, Borough Council holds public hearings on specific issues as needed. Residents can also make comment on any agenda item at the point during the meeting when the item is up for discussion.
State College Borough offers ways to engage with Council outside of official meetings.
Online Forum: Engage State College
Engage State College is an online forum for civic engagement. Read what others are saying about important State College topics, then post your own statement. Borough officials will read the statements and consider them as part of their decision-making processes.
When you post your first statement, you will be asked for your name and home address. This confidential information is only used to identify statements from residents in and near State College - so that users know which statements are from local residents. Posts can be made anonymously or with your name attached.
As with any public comment process, participation in Engage State College is voluntary; Borough officials will consider input from this forum along with all other channels for participation. However you choose to participate, thanks for helping us build a better State College.
